The 14th Annual George Jeffrey Children's Foundation Soapbox Races in partnership with Lead Sponsor, Best Western PLUS Dryden Hotel and Conference Centre are gearing up for June 2,3,4 (rain date) at Waverley Hill and Park. We are excited to get things rolling! If you would like to participate in this popular event and for information on how to build your own soapbox car, please check out the links below. Come out and cheer on our racers Saturday and enjoy some delicous food from our vendors! Food from Hot Paddle Pizza, Pop's Kettle Corn, Martin's Wonderland Magic - Cotton Candy, Menchie's Frozen Yogurt, and Expresso JOYA. SEE YOU AT THE RACES!
These races are unique; children have the opportunity to race soapbox cars down Waverley Hill. There are a few single seat soapbox cars available for use, as well as two-person soapbox cars that allow children with special needs or younger children the opportunity to take part racing down the hill, while being chauffeured by a parent or guardian. This gives them the chance to experience the soapbox racing sensation and support a worthwhile cause with the pledges they raise. Every dollar stays in this community to help support George Jeffrey Children's Centre in its efforts to provide programs and services that meet the physical, developmental, and social needs for children and their families dealing with very diverse special needs.
Last year we were unfortunately faced with Mother Nature not cooperating and were put in the position to make the tough decision to cancel the races do to torrential rain, and most importantly for the safety of the racers. This was the first year in the history of the races that we have had to cancel. This year, to ensure that we will not be faced with having to cancel the races once more, we have set aside Sunday June 4th, 2017 as an alternate race date.

George Jeffrey Children’s Foundation is looking for food vendors, artists, crafters, buskers, and creators of any kind to help us fill Waverley Park at the 14th Annual George Jeffrey Children’s Centre Soapbox Races June 3rd (rain date June 4th).
Vendors will be required to be set up all day Saturday, due to road closure restrictions. In the case of rain we have set aside Sunday June 4th as an alternate date. It would be up to vendors whether or not they would want to return for the rain date.
